Since I direct theatrical productions from time to time, I have hundreds of sound effects stored on my computer. They typically stay tucked away in their own little folder, but somehow they managed to escape into my iTunes shuffle today (which is my go-to when I’m ultra-focused on score edits and formatting).
Imagine my surprise when Debussy’s “Nuages” was followed by an ear-splitting gunshot. Once I peeled myself off the ceiling, I darted to the restroom across the hall to reassure my freaked-out bladder.
When I returned to my office, one of the tracks from The Chronicles of Narnia film score was finishing up. Just as I sat down in my chair, a rather juicy flatulent noise resounded from my desktop speakers.
Thanks, iTunes. Your timing is impeccable. I’m sure glad a student wasn’t walking in at that moment.
