I created this little video (under 10 mins – linked below) in honor of College and University Music Students everywhere who are trying to prepare for upcoming remote juries courtesy of Coronavirus. These are strange times indeed — so, I want to offer encouragement and some practical pointers by making myself totally vulnerable on camera. This is a mere glimpse of a much more extensive practice process, but clearly there are limits to how much anyone wants to see of the actual sausage-making. One thing that this film demonstrates is the importance of self-aware, thoughtful, goal-oriented practice. It’s good to take a few moments to think through why some things are hard for you.

“You should never listen to someone practice. That is their work and theirs alone.” — Nadia Boulanger
